Pastor David F. Traynham is, along with Brenda Pope Traynham, the founding and current pastor of New Horizons Christian Church, Albany, New York since 1990. Established to bridge the gap between the Church and the community, the reach of the ministry has garnered national attention. In their city and county, the Traynhams have become advocates for the underserved and have given their lives over to ensuring that righteousness, justice and mercy prevail in our region.

Pastor David’s greatest desire is to see people come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and empower those in his sphere of influence to live productive Christian lives.

Pastor David is a lifelong Albany resident, born and raised in the South End. His volunteer and community involvement includes Parsons Child and Family Center and Northeast Parent and Child Society, Spiritual Care Advisor, Albany Law Enforcement Resolution Team (ALERT), Founder, Albany County Land Bank Corporation, Vice Chairman for the Board of Directors, Albany County Ethics Commission, Board Member, Albany County Executive’s Opioid Task Force, Member, Workforce Development Committee for Hudson Valley Community College, Member, Capital South Campus Center, Advisory Committee, Senior Hope Counseling Center, Past Board Member, Served as Chairman for the CURE Violence Advisory Committee Past Chair, Alpha Pregnancy Center, Board of Directors, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan’s Community Equity Advisory Committee, Member, Capital District Ministers Fellowship, Member, Has done Chaplaincy work for the New York Football Giants from 2001 to 2015, Albany, New York Chapter of the NAACP, Past President.
